11th November 2019

Today we were set our project brief for Unit 10,12 and 13. These are the only projects that we have for the rest of this year and are big research projects. These projects include a project proposal where we describe what we are planning to do for this project and an action plan for how we are planning to carry out the research, etc. For my Unit 10, I am planning to do a research project on different recording techniques and different microphone recording options. For this project, I will be researching about different microphones, such as Dynamic, condensers and ribbon Microphones. I will also be researching what their most common recording uses are, and what instruments use each microphone. This will then lead on to me recording demos of each instrument through different microphones and evaluating which sound best. I will be self evaluating this and I will also be getting feedback from the public, This will be done with a test, where they are unaware of the different techniques I have used. This will mean that it is solely based on the sound of the recordings. This Unit 10 project, will lead me on nicely to my Unit 12 and 13 project which I will be recording an EP with cover songs from my band. Unit 10 will give be the foundations of which recording techniques and microphones will be best for recording each instrument. This will help when it comes to recording the EP. For the upcoming week, I am planning to get some research done on the different microphones and the different recording techniques that I could use.
