Wednesday 5th June 2019
3.00pm: At 3 o’clock I met up with Tom at the college ready to load up the van with all of the equipment for the gig. This took us around 30 minutes to load up all the things like kick drum, toms, bass stack, cables, mics, guitar racks etc. By the time we got to the venue is was 4 pm, this gave us a short while to unload the van and get everything on stage and ready. Once everything was on stage we began running the cables and mic up all the necessary equipment. When we got to the venue, we were faced with a few issues that caused slight setbacks and hurdles that we had to deal with and overcome. First being that the venue had us booked in for the 25th June 2019 this is 2 weeks later than we were meant to be booked in. This caused a slight panic as we were sure we had the right date, after a discussion with the management of the venue, we agreed to be able to play on the 5th and that we could carry on as we planned too. On May 23rd I confirmed with the band that we were still okay to play on the 5th and they replied that we were. 📷
Once we had set up the equipment, we were ready to start running cables and getting all of the sounds sorted, such as mic up and DI boxes. This is when we were faced with another hurdle which caused a knock on effect for the evening. As we found out that the PA system work we had to quickly reevaluate the plan for the evening and decided that we would just use the guitar amps on loud so that everyone could hear, after doing a sound check with this idea we decided that it would be fine and that it was only a small venue to fill. So we decide to run with this idea, and I'm glad we did as if definitely paid off and it worked perfectly. The performances were all very good, and everyone did themselves proud and gave their best performance. Our performance was the last one of the evening and everyone had got more into the music and were getting more involved with the performance. The songs we performed I felt were very good and tight, this was a result of us rehearsing them so much and making sure we got them as good as we could. After our performance, we quickly got packed down and coiled all the cables so that we were ready to go. This took us around 30-40 minutes and meant we were out the venue just after 10ish, which is earlier than we first intended as we were running ahead of schedule.
