Blog Post 20: Thursday 28th February 2019

Todays rehearsal we went over and tried to develop our new composition and tried to build up the layers for all of our different instruments. We also sat down and talked about what we want to create for the next song. We all agreed that we wanted to keep the songs slightly simpler and keep to a standard drum beat and a basic chord progression made up with 7th chords to give the airy and ambient feels. We also want to put in a ‘A’ and a ‘B’ section in the songs to change up the songs. With some members lacking, we continued working on the 2nd composition and for this to be as effective I went back onto the Keyboard to help churn up some ideas. For this rehearsal one of the other members played the bass guitar as it is an instrument we are missing out on in our band. This means that we are lacking in the low end frequencies and it makes are music sound airy and bright. By adding in a Bass Guitar we are balancing the song and making the mix more equal and sound more full. The plans for next week are to continue working towards the new song and work on making progress towards the live gig along with really making sure we work on a performance, and perhaps work along a plan B for the gig and rehearse some possible covers that we can do, as we don’t have much material for the actual performance.
