Today we had our band rehearsals. In this band we are working towards writing new and original tracks and preparing for a live gig in April before Easter. As a band our rehearsals consist of working on the songs we have started and work on getting the instrumentation ready for the live set. On this particular rehearsals we worked on the first song composition and we made a few adjustments on previous work and added some additional parts. The song was at a tempo of 100 beats per minute. This was the tempo we started with and felt that it was good at worked for the song well. This was until we changed it to 85 beats per minute this felt far more relaxed and natural. This changed the way we played the songs and almost moved the aim of the song and brought us back on target to achieve what we wanted. The music we want to create is very chilled, and is a mix between ‘Electronic music’ and Jazz. We have a jazz chord progression to create the base of the song and are working to get a melody line over the top of it. In this rehearsal we also decided the song was missing a bass guitar. So, I got a bass guitar and learnt to positions to play and we went through and played the song. And the bass guitar really added to the song as it filled in the bass frequencies and made the song sound more full and thick. We will be working on this to make sure that it is all ready for the live set. I will be rehearsing and practicing the bass guitar to ensure that I feel comfortable to perform playing it.

Plans and goals. For this song we will be adding in some sort of lyrical melody for our vocalist to sing. For the lyrics we want to keep them really simple so that it keep the vibe of electronic jazzy music.
