Band rehearsals

Our plans for today's rehearsals is to work together to rehearse the new songs together and begin to get through all of the songs as a band and begin to work on getting a whole performance together. We will be working as a band today to get try and get through the entirety of the performance and to try and work through the whole set list. In preparation for the rehearsals Henry has prepared the tab and has transcribed one of the songs and given each member parts to play for the song. We have all learnt our parts pre rehearsals so, that we are ready to rehearse together. We will then reprease and work on getting our original composition up to speed and ensure that it is tight and ready for the gig. I would like to do a run through of the performance, in the live room and help make our transitions between songs neat and efficient.

From today’s rehearsal we have come out, having 1 song that is sounding very promising and looking hopeful for the gig, and it incorporates all of our musicians playing. We rehearsed this song lots of times and did this by playing along with the track once and then on our own, and then back to the with the track with kept alternating whether we were doing it with the track on not, this helped us learn the song and helped us stay in time to the song. The song has basic structure and is made up of parts A and B which alternate between themselves. This makes the song simple to learn as there is only 2 parts learn. We need to work as a band to work on the transitions between the 2 parts, but the song is looking very promising considering we have only rehearsed it during this rehearsals. Heading towards the end of the session we started working and discussing how we could develop the composition that I had come up with so that it is ready for the next rehearsals as is ready to perform at Dukes. I have already created 2 parts of the song; Part A and B, which alternate. We have decided that it would be better is there was a short progression used to pass into part B, this makes the transition smoother and less harsh. I will be changing the song to suit our discussion and it will be ready for next week's rehearsals so that we can work on a band to make it sound neat and professional.

2 more rehearsals before Dukes gig.
